a national organization to show and promote works by professional women artists founded in 1896
Have you ever noticed when you walk into the major museums of the world there are very few paintings by women? Of course, there are many paintings of women, but very few by women even though half of all visual artists are female.
For the past 125 years, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club has endeavored to change that statistic by sponsoring an Annual Juried Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club, open to all women artists and Member shows at prestigious venues throughout the tri-state area. The Club also offers an annual scholarship to a promising women artist through the Art Students League.
We need your help. Please join our 125th celebration with a most special, tax-deductible Commemorative Donation of $125 (although any amount is appreciated). Our hope is to reach our goal of $12,500!
Whether you are an artist, patron or would like to honor someone you love, know that your contribution is very much appreciated. Donors of $125 received by April 15 will have their names appear on our 125th Annual Open Juried Exhibition Catalog, presented at our Benefit Reception June 23rd at the Salmagundi Club. Thereafter, donations will be acknowledged in our quarterly newsletter.
Thank you for your support of CLWAC! Here’s to another 125 years supporting women artists nationwide!
