emerita and past presidents

Merrilee Sett—Board Member Emerita

Her work has had many group and solo exhibitions both in the US as well as Canada.  She has won several awards and is a Signature member with the Federation of Canadian Artists, NorthWest Watercolor Society, NorthEast Watercolor Society and a Full Member with the Catharine Lorrillard Wolfe Art Club, Audubon Society as well as N.A.W.A.

She is also a board member and painting co-chair for the annual CLWAC Members Exhibition held at the Salmagundi Club in NYC and in 2014 was juried for full membership with the Salmagundi Club.

Nature has always been Merrilee's strongest inspiration.  She is known for her delicate watercolors, but much of her recent work with watermedia is full of texture and vibrant color.

She hopes the viewer sees a more unique, creative and absorbing approach to painting.

Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections worldwide.

Holly Meeker Rom—Board Member Emerita

Holly Meeker Rom is fascinated by the visual world around her.  Her subjects have ranged from gardens, to architecture, nature close-ups to scenes where she has lived or travelled to whales and portraits of people. She paints outdoors primarily, but in her studio as well, in a style that is both contemporary and representational.  It is a lyrical vision, alive with rhythm and color and drawn with precision.

Rom earned a BA from Mills College in 1971.  She was an exchange student at the Rhode Island School of Design for two winter sessions in 1970 and 1971. She has an MFA from American University in painting in 1986, and an MA in Art Education from California State University Sacramento, as well as a teaching certificate from the University of Utah.  She has taught drawing, color, basic design and watercolor and has been a volunteer guide in museum education at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 17 years. She has exhibited nationally and won many awards. In 2015 she had a solo exhibit at The NIH Clinical Center Galleries in Bethesda, MD and the same show on Climate Change travelled to the NYU Langone Medical Center.  Her artwork is in the collections of Hillary Rodham Clinton, Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY, The Osborn in Rye, NY and NYU Langone Dept. of Medicine.
